Batman's Abilites, more than you think!

Thought that plot armour and “Prep time” were the Bat’s only abilities?

Well depending on the writer you could be right but we're going to delve into the history of Batman and explore what abilities and powers have been demonstrated and proven.

Batman multiple Batman character designs

Financial Clout:

Bruce Wayne beats Tony Stark by a considerable gap in salary, and although Stark enterprises as a company is estimated at more than Wayne enterprises in worth ($12.4 billion Vs $9.2 billion) the combination of salary and company assets demonstrates the ability to acquire and develop the most cutting edge tech needed to be the Batman.

Intelligence:

Bruce Wayne has a considerable IQ, in some documents it is suggested that his IQ level exceeds 200 which is superhuman in itself. With more than 6 degrees, including one in criminal science, before the age of 21 Bruce is almost peerless in his intelligence, in the DC universe he is second only to Lex Luthor. Due to all of his studies and technology at his disposal the title of the “world’s greatest detective” is one that is well deserved, Bruce’s reasoning and intuition skills leave him one of the only people in the world able to match the Joker with his unpredictability.

Planning:

Yes, Yes this also includes “prep time”. Bruce has no actual superpowers of his own but is in the league with aliens, amazonians, atlantians, a load of other A words……. But you get the idea. Any one of the regular justice league members that turned bad could turn the tide of good vs evil in the DC universe. Now old Bruce Wayne does not just assume or trust this will never happen he not only has a plan to stop or hinder his rogues gallery but he has a plan, and the means, to stop each and every one of his allies and friends, the fact he not only has a plan, but the equipment required to do this is where he gets the reputation he has AND the reason he has taken out Superman all by himself (NOT due to the name Martha though…)

Peak Human:

Bruce Wayne, through training, meditation and diet Bruce Wayne is at the peak of human abilities and strength. Whilst not at the same level as a 616 Steve Rogers in many ways, Bruce has achieved a lot of what Rogers needed the super soldier serum for all by himself. His peak durability has seen him take multiple stabbings and shootings and still walk away, and who can forget the recovery of the broken back caused by Bane? Seriously impressive healing abilities.

Comic book Batman

Master of Martial Arts:

So how good is the Batman at fighting? Well we know from the history of the character that Bruce wayne that he has mastered many armed and unarmed combat styles and disciplines, including but not limited to: Jeet Kune Do, Shaolin, Ba Gua, Hung Gar, Tai Chi, Kung Fu, Kenpo, Karate, Muay Thai, Escrima, Krav Maga, Capoeira, Savate, Yawyan, Taekwondo, Judo, Jiu-jitsu Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Ninjutsu, Kendo, Fencing, Hapkido, Sambo, Wing Chun, Parkour, Shorin Ryu, Silat, Chin Na, Kyudo, Aikido, Varma Ati, Kenjutsu, Kali, Bojutsu, Wrestling, Francombat, Boxing and Kickboxing, phew. This Allows him to beat much stronger opponents by using his learnt skills to redress the balance.

Gadgets:

Not much to say here as a lot of the stranger gadgets we see are plot armour devices (See Adam West shark spray) but combining Bruce’s financial might with the intelligence and preplanning allows whoever is writing to have the perfect gadget available for each possible event. This is a true unparalleled skill.

Does Batman always win against everyone? Does Preptime ALWAYS occur? Take a look at one of our favourite classic Death Battle episodes and see for yourself:
