Pokemon for parents, find out more

Pokemon 25th Anniversary

It doesn’t seem that long ago since I was playing Pokemon Red in my bedroom on my Gameboy colour, venturing through the region of Kanto taking on gym after gym and catching a vast array of Pokemon.

Obviously Charmander has been my favourite Pokemon since the beginning but it was always a tough choice between Squirtle and Charmander. I feel Bulbasaur was always the one to be chosen last, like when you're picking football teams on the playground and there’s always that one kid that gets picked last.

Then there was Pikachu! The one you couldn’t wait to catch and train up. Such an Iconic character and probably the most go to character when you say name a Pokemon character.

Pokemon - Squirtle, Charmander, Bulbasaur, Pikachu

So how has 25 years flown so fast! How is my childhood favourite now 25yrs old! It’s because it has built such an iconic brand and cult following not just in Japan but throughout the world. Kids love it almost as much as us adults do.

Through the years we have gone on many journeys with the Pokemon series from Pokemon Red and Blue on the Gameboy to the latest Sword and Shield on the Switch. Despite the games having the same general theme (catch pokemon, train pokemon and collect gym badges), they’ve always been so enjoyable to play and you're always left counting down the days till the next release.

If you're like us here at Sidequest TGC and love Pokemon then you should check out our range of Pokemon plushes and Pokemon figures. Also stay tuned for our new Pokemon Trading Card range coming soon.

That just leaves me to say Happy 25th Birthday Pokemon and I look forward to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Brilliant Pearl later this year.
